Nel suo blog Out Of Context Marty Rubin definisce i suoi frammenti come “pezzi di vita” (“pieces of life”) aggiungendo nel sottotitolo una suggestiva presentazione: “Aphorisms. Meditations on life. A poet at heart A lover of life An iconoclast with nihilistic tendencies My politics is friendship My philosophy is happiness“.
In un altro suo blog, Mydailyaphorism, anche esso seguitissimo dai suoi lettori, Marty Rubin presenta i suoi aforismi come “pensieri sulla vita, la morte, la bellezza, il cambiamento, l’amore, la felicità, etc, scritti in stile poetico e bizzarro”.
Marty Rubin – che vive nella centralissima New York – così definisce la sua passione per l’aforisma: “Fin da bambino sono stato incuriosito dalla domanda: Che cos’è la felicità? E anche: Che cos’è la morte? La risposta a queste due domande mi ha portato lungo la strada della filosofia. Questa strada che ho trovato non è, almeno per me, seria, ma bizzarra, piena di pensieri ironici, giocosi, contradditori, frammentari, intelligenti, perversi, demistificanti, esasperanti, irriverenti e giocosi. Scrivendo aforismi io sono in grado di partecipare a questo delizioso gioco, inseguendo la libertà e la saggezza dentro tutti i vicoli ciechi del linguaggio e del pensiero verso quella inevitabile fine che è la morte”.
