Drew Byrne, che vive nella regione di Thames Valley in Inghilterra, è un appassionato del genere aforistico e gestisce tre blog aventi come tema l’aforisma. Nel primo, che si intitola aphorism defined, Drew Byrne raccoglie una lunga serie di definizioni di aforisma estrapolate da diversi autori. Nel blog ci sono anche anche definizioni scritte da Drew Byrne stesso. Eccone alcune: “Gli aforismi dicono meno di quello che significano, ma significano più di quello che dicono” e “Gli aforismi: brevi bombe letterararie a miccia corta che tendono a esplodere inaspettatamente in faccia al loro lettore” e “Alcuni aforismi non hanno sempre ragione, e altri non hanno neanche sempre torto” e “Aforismi: l’involontario starnuto di una mente in congestione semantica, sommariamente eseguito in un momento di non custodito flusso grammaticale”.
Nel blog che si intitola Aphorisms for modern living Drew Byrne raccoglie invece una selezione di aforismi di autori contemporanei, mentre nel blog An Observer’s (chiuso e ad inviti), Drew Byrne scrive periodicamente, a partire dal 2009, i suoi aforismi. Essi sono, come afferma l’autore, “un quaderno di riluttanti (e per fortuna brevi) constatazioni fatte sulla situazione umana, viste attraverso il sottile e itterico occhio di una persona normale (me stesso), che è, come risulta, si è troppo spesso trovato a essere stufo dell’intera situazione dell’esistenza, come è inevitabile in generale”.
